DocSynch implements for the jEdit editor a functionality where single editors may share a document. It uses an exchange protocol on top of IRC for communication instead of X-windows or TCP/IP. This has distinct advantages and disadvantages.
DocSynch will support real-time collaborative editing (like SubEthaEdit), this feature is almost completely implemented.
